Wifi Digital Photo Frames

Questions about using Digital Picture Frames with WiFi.?
I am interested in buying a few Digital Picture Frames that utilize WiFi to receive their updates.
I have read the installation and user guides from many manufacturers.
Many of them mantion placing my photos on a public web site and then pushing them from the web site to the Digital Frame.
I dont like this idea. I dont want my photos on a public internet site. I also dont want my Digital Frame to be accessible by a public web site.
Some manufacturers utilize something called RSS.
What is RSS?
Is this more secure?
Can I do this within my own LAN?
I guess I thought that these picture frames would allow me to assign a static IP address to the frame, and then FTP the files from a system on my LAN directly to the frame.
Wireless is definately the way to go. Walking around to each frame after it is hanging on the wall and attaching a USB cable to upload specific photos is not the way I want to go.
RSS
Might be more secure, but it would still be done the same way (on some public place) the Picture Frame connects to the internet at some given time (so you need some type of connection) and download the pictures.
You need to check if the wifi is just to connect to the internet, or more if you can set it up as a Wlan. (wireless lan). Or even just connection it to your local Lan. Then from any computer it should show up as part of your local network, you post the files and it picks them up).
